Navigate the Noise: Get Clear on GLP-1 Treatments Like Semaglutide, Tirzepatide, Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, and Zepbound™.

We’ve paused new memberships as we discontinue GLP-1 services. Existing members may place refill orders until Aug 1, 2025.

GLP-1 is a natural hormone that helps control your appetite. Treatments like Semaglutide (found in Ozempic® and Wegovy®) and Tirzepatide (found in Mounjaro® and Zepbound™) work by making you feel fuller longer and eating less, which helps you lose weight. These medications are proven to help people shed pounds effectively.

At ZenFit Wellness, treatments like Semaglutide (found in Ozempic® and Wegovy®) and Tirzepatide (found in Mounjaro®) are for adults who are overweight or have health problems because of their weight. You might be eligible if your body mass index (BMI) is 30 or more, or 27 and up if you also have issues like type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. These treatments are safe and effective whether you have diabetes or not.

Tirzepatide and Semaglutide are both powerful medications used to help with weight loss and manage type 2 diabetes, but they function differently in the body.

Semaglutide is known for its role as a GLP-1 receptor agonist. This means it mimics the action of the GLP-1 hormone, which is crucial in regulating blood sugar levels and managing appetite. By slowing down gastric emptying and increasing feelings of fullness, Semaglutide can lead to significant weight reduction. It’s the active ingredient in medications like Ozempic® and Wegovy®.

Tirzepatide, however, works on two fronts. It’s a dual agonist, meaning it targets both GLP-1 receptors and GIP receptors (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide). This dual mechanism enhances its ability to manage blood glucose and appetite. Tirzepatide’s broader action on these hormones may lead to more effective weight loss and better management of long-term weight compared to medications that focus only on the GLP-1 pathway. It’s the active ingredient in Mounjaro® and Zepbound™.

In summary, while both medications are effective for weight loss and controlling blood sugar levels, Tirzepatide’s dual action on both GLP-1 and GIP receptors might provide more comprehensive results, particularly in managing both appetite and long-term weight loss goals.

Our GLP-1 weight loss program is designed to help individuals achieve significant and sustained weight loss, but there are certain health conditions that may disqualify you from participating. Safety is our top priority, so we carefully assess each individual’s medical history before recommending this treatment.

Common disqualifying health conditions include:

  • Personal or Family History of Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma (MTC): This rare type of thyroid cancer can be exacerbated by GLP-1 medications, making it a critical disqualifying factor.

  • Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2): Another rare genetic disorder that increases the risk of certain types of tumors, including those affecting the thyroid and adrenal glands.

  • Severe Gastrointestinal Conditions: Conditions like gastroparesis, where the stomach muscles don’t function properly, may be worsened by GLP-1 medications, making it unsafe for individuals with this condition.

  • Chronic Pancreatitis: Individuals with a history of pancreatitis may be at an increased risk of further complications with GLP-1 medications.

  • Kidney Disease: Severe kidney disease may affect how the body processes GLP-1 medications, leading to potential health risks.

  • Severe Liver Disease: Individuals with significant liver impairment may not be suitable candidates for GLP-1 treatment due to the way these medications are metabolized.

It’s essential to have a thorough consultation with our healthcare team to evaluate any underlying health conditions and ensure that the GLP-1 weight loss program is safe and effective for you. If you have any of these health conditions, we have a special program that will allow you to work with us without any program commitment and to find alternative weight loss solutions that align with your medical needs.

These are usually mild and tend to improve over time. Even with pretty good eating habits, it’s possible to struggle with weight loss due to several other factors. Achieving healthy weight loss often involves more than just diet—it’s important to also consider your body mass index (BMI), which can give you a better understanding of your overall health.

Another factor that is often overlooked in weight loss marketing is the role of biological factors such as insulin resistance, thyroid issues, or hormonal imbalances. These can significantly impact your ability to lose weight, even if you’re eating well and staying active.

Additionally, long-term weight management is most successful when good eating habits are paired with regular physical activity. Sometimes, even healthy-looking foods can contain hidden processed foods that might be slowing your progress.

At ZenFit Wellness, we understand that weight loss isn’t just about one aspect of your lifestyle; it’s about a comprehensive approach that includes diet, exercise, addressing biological factors, and sometimes even medical support. We’re here to help you uncover all the factors at play and provide a plan that truly works for you.

The most common types of processed foods include:

  1. Sugary Snacks: Cookies, cakes, pastries, candies, and chocolate bars are heavily processed and often contain high amounts of sugar, unhealthy fats, and preservatives.

  2. Sodas and Sweetened Beverages: Soft drinks, energy drinks, and sweetened teas are processed with added sugars, artificial flavors, and colorings.

  3. Fast Food: Burgers, fries, pizza, and fried chicken are examples of processed fast food, typically high in calories, unhealthy fats, and sodium.

  4. Breakfast Cereals: Many cereals are processed with added sugars, artificial flavors, and preservatives, especially those marketed toward children.

  5. Processed Meats: Hot dogs, sausages, bacon, and deli meats are processed with added salts, nitrates, and preservatives to enhance flavor and extend shelf life.

  6. Instant Noodles and Ready-to-Eat Meals: These convenience foods are processed to include preservatives, flavor enhancers like MSG, and are often high in sodium.

  7. Frozen Foods: Pre-packaged frozen meals, including pizzas, dinners, and snacks, are processed to maintain texture and taste over time.

  8. Canned Foods: While some canned foods, like vegetables, are minimally processed, others, like soups and stews, are often high in sodium and preservatives.

  9. Chips and Crackers: These snack foods are processed with added salts, fats, and flavorings to enhance taste and shelf life.

  10. Bottled Sauces and Dressings: Many condiments like ketchup, salad dressings, and pasta sauces are processed with added sugars, salts, and preservatives.

These processed foods are often linked to health issues when consumed in excess, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes, due to their high content of unhealthy fats, sugars, and sodium.
